Recently, my family and I enjoyed the new gluten-free crust at our local Papa Murphy’s restaurant. The first thing I did when I called was ask to speak to a manager. We talked for a bit about what lengths they went to ensure the safety of the gluten-free crust to those with celiac disease and gluten sensitivities. She told me that they arrive wrapped from Udi’s and are kept separate at all times from the traditional crust made in house. When they get a gluten-free pizza order, hands are washed, gloves are changed, and everything is prepared in a separate area than the main front house line. They use new pizza sauce and toppings that haven’t already been contaminated with gluten like the ones on the front line would be. They then wrap it all in plastic wrap and set it aside for pick up. I felt very confident with placing my order after speaking with the manager. I went ahead and ordered my favorite pizza, ham and pineapple (I know, I am so creative 😉 ) and was excited first to see how big it was when I arrived. I have never gotten a gluten-free pizza that large (a true medium size) for that great of a price before. The pizza looked fantastic and I couldn’t wait to get home and bake it in my own, safe oven. I wanted to eat it piping hot out of the oven because it smelled so great! After snapping a quick photo, I dug right in. It was great! Udi’s really got the crust right for this pizza. I thought it was much more chewy and flavorful than the plain Udi’s pizza crusts that you can buy at the store and top at home. I love pizza and I am used to such a small gluten-free size that I always eat the whole thing but this one was so big that it lasted me two meals…yay!
While my restaurant location did a fabulous job, I would highly encourage you to only eat this if yours is up to the same standard as it is a shared kitchen. Thank you Udi’s and Papa Murphy’s for providing me with a lovely experience. I will definitely be back! #FreshlyGF
*I was provided with a Papa Murphy’s gift card and swag as well as stuff from Udi’s Gluten Free in exchange for this post. I was not required to write a positive feature, simply my own experience and thoughts.
