These semi-homemade brown butter sea salt chocolate cookie bars couldn’t be easier. We all need a quick and easy dessert at times but don’t want to sacrifice that homemade taste. By adding just a few ingredients, you can take your favorite chocolate chip cookie mix to the next level. Trust me, while sophisticated enough in flavor to serve at an adults gathering, these bars will be so good that even the kiddos will gobble them up…Just like little lady did! We used Simple Mills brand of grain-free chocolate chip cookie mix because it’s one of our favorites. I love that the ingredients are real and kept to a minimum. If you don’t have this brand, any mix will work.
I should note here that I NEVER thought I would take pictures like this with my baby on the table eating right out of the bowl. I have seen these kinds of pictures so many times on Pinterest or Instagram and thought, “How cute!” but just couldn’t bring myself to do it. The mess, oh the mess! I have a huge aversion to being sticky so the thought of getting little lady sticky on purpose is enough to make me hyperventilate. BUT I am so glad I went out of my comfort zone because these pictures couldn’t be cuter!! Our favorite way to serve these easy brown butter sea salt chocolate cookie bars is with cold milk poured over them hot out of the oven while they are still ooey gooey. The combination is irresistible! So grab a chair (or a place on the table if your a little one) and enjoy this delicious dessert in a snap.
- 1 package gluten-free chocolate chip cookie mix (prepared as directed, minus 2 T butter or oil)
- 2 T butter
- 1/4 tsp. Real Salt or sea salt
- Prepare your gluten-free cookie mix as directed, minus 2 T butter or oil. If your cookie mix doesn't call for oil or butter, no worries just continue on with the recipe. In a small frying pan, brown your 2 T butter for 1-2 minutes. Slowly stir into cookie dough. Spread dough into a glass 8x8 pan or pie pan. Top with crushed sea salt & bake according to cookie package directions. If your like me and like it a bit gooey, cut down baking time by 1-2 minutes.
