This is another gluten-free birthday party we threw at our house. My oldest son wanted a pirate themed party so of course I went to Pinterest and got the wheels turning. First I knew that I wanted to make his cake all by myself. Since I am no cake decorator, I needed something EASY. What is easier than smearing a cake with blue frosting and making a beach using gluten-free vanilla wafer cookies or graham style cookies with one gluten-free chocolate cream sandwich cookie crushed into a “sand”. Add the cookie sand to 1/3 of your cake then top with pirate figurines.
I had this skeleton from our Halloween decorations that ended up making a great addition and backdrop to our themed table. I made up a bath of sugar cookies and topped with white chocolate bark that had been melted so it was spreadable. Once it dried, I used black and red food gel to make treasure cookies. Super easy decorating again because I really am no cake decorator. 😉
Lastly, for lunch we made hotdogs into octopuses “from the sea”. The lunch wouldn’t have been complete without serving Pirate Booty along with it. Not only does it go with the theme but my boys love it! Decorate the table with plastic gold coins and pirate confetti and you have yourself an easy peasy pirate party.
