Bacon Balsamic Toast

I love a good slaw, but adding it to toast adds even more texture and makes it easy to take on the go!

Ingredients

  • 4 slices Canyon Bakehouse gluten-free bread
  • 2 C purple cabbage sliced thin
  • 4 slices bacon grease reserved
  • 4 T butter
  • 2 T parmesan
  • 4 T aged cherry balsamic
  • dash of black pepper and salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • On a silicone mat lined baking sheet, butter one side of each piece of bread with 1 T butter
  • Top each with a sprinkling of black pepper and salt
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until crisp but not burnt
  • Meanwhile, fry bacon in a large frying pan
  • Remove bacon and place on a paper towel lined plat; keep grease in the frying pan
  • Toss cabbage in the reserved bacon grease and fry for 5-6 minutes until it starts to brighten in color and soften
  • Top each toast with cooked cabbage
  • Sprinkle with parmesan and add crumbled bacon
  • Finish with a generous drizzle of aged balsamic
