Blackberry Sage Lemonade Melting Pot Copycat

Ingredients

  • 10 blackberries
  • 8-10 sage leaves
  • 1 1/2 half lemons
  • 2 oz. Monin Blackberry Syrup
  • 2 C cold water
  • 4-6 tsp. superfine sugar
  • Ice
  • Garnish:
  • 4 blackberries
  • 4 sage leaves
  • 2 lemon wedges

Instructions

  • Stir together water, 4 tsp. superfine sugar (add the other 2 tsp. if it needs more sweetener) and the juice of one lemon. Set aside.
  • Add ice to the pitcher of lemonade
  • Add 10 blackberries to a mortar and pestle or bowl
  • Chop the fresh sage finely and add it to the bowl or mortar and pestle of blackberries 
  • Add 1/2 chopped lemon as well
  • Muddle the blackberries, sage leaves and remaining half lemon that has been sliced into wedges
  • Add Monin Blackberry syrup and muddled berries, sage and lemon mixture to pitcher of lemonade
  • Stir well with a long bar spoon
  • Pour into glasses and garnish with more blackberries and a lemon wedge

Notes

You could definitely make this with frozen blackberries when fresh aren't in season! Both in this recipe and in our strawberry margarita mocktail, frozen berries work.
For this recipe, simply unthaw them enough to muddle first. I wouldn't recommend using anything but fresh sage though. Dried just is NOT the same in this drink. 
I always recommend Monin Blackberry syrup because it is made with clean ingredients and has no artificial colors. The flavor is strong but authentic as well. 
This lemonade keeps well in the refrigerator for up to five days. It is best fresh within the first three days though.
