Easy Brown Sugar Simple Syrup

This brown sugar syrup recipe is a delightful balance between sweetness and rich caramel notes. It's the secret ingredient to your drinks, pancakes, and other desserts that you never knew you needed.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  • Add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of brown sugar to a small pot and whisk well

  • Bring to a boil whisking occasionally then remove from heat and let steep for 10 minutes
  • Pour syrup into a glass bottle and store at room temperature

Notes

Pro tip: To avoid burning the syrup, make sure you remove the pan from heat as soon as the mixture begins to boil. Over boiling will give you a bitter flavor. 
Storing - You can store this homemade syrup in a glass container for up to 1-2 weeks at room temperature. Make sure it's in an airtight container, mason jar, or another glass jar. Once the syrup gets cloudy, discolored, or moldy, it's time to make a new batch. 
Refrigerating - Although you don't need to store this classic simple syrup in the fridge, it will last longer if you can.  But again, once it changes color or gets moldy, it's no longer good.
