Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup sliced peaches (fresh or frozen)

Instructions

  • Add 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar to a pan and whisk well
  • Add 1 1/2 cups of fresh or frozen peaches
  • Bring to a boil on medium heat, whisking occasionally then remove from heat and let steep for 45 minutes
  • Pour syrup through a fine mesh strainer into a glass bottle, making sure to push down the fruit as you strain

Notes

Pro tip: For a smooth and silky syrup, make sure you strain the mixture well. Press down on the fruit as you strain to extract all the fresh peach flavor.

Make ahead and storing instructions

Make ahead: Make this syrup ahead of time and store for up to a month. This is a great option if you like syrup in your coffees, favorite cocktails, or even drizzles on pancakes in the morning.
How to store: Store at room temperature or in the refrigerator in an airtight container. A mason jar or another glass jar works great. This syrup will last 1-2 weeks at room temperature and up to a month in the fridge. Once it's cloudy, it's no longer good.

Recipe variations

  • Any sugar: Any sugar works for this easy recipe. Cane sugar, coconut sugar, date sugar, and raw sugar all work great. Do note that the flavor and color may vary slightly depending on what type of syrup you use.
  • Citrus: Add lemon juice oranges, or lime juice when steeping for a slight, yet bright, citrusy twist to this homemade peach syrup recipe.
  • Minty infusion: If you like to make virgin mojitos, consider adding a few mint leaves for an aromatic summer beverage.
  • Frozen or fresh peaches: If you have tons of fresh ripe peaches lying around, this is a great way to use them. But, if it's not peach season, feel free to use frozen peaches.
