Ingredients

  • 2 packages of gluten-free ladyfingers we love Schar brand
  • 1 cup brewed cocoa beans or very strong espresso (recommended for best flavor)
  • 16 ounces mascarpone
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups whipping cream
  • ½ teaspoon gluten free vanilla
  • cocoa powder for dusting
  • pinch of sea salt
  • splash of dark rum or marsala wine (optional)

Instructions

  • Make 1 cup liquid brewed cocoa beans (Crio Bru) or strong espresso (for best flavor)
  • Whip mascarpone and powdered sugar until fluffy and well combined
  • In another bowl, whip cream, vanilla and sea salt (add the dark rum or marsala here too if adding) until stiff peaks form then fold cream into mascarpone and split into three even amounts
  • Spread ⅓ cream in the bottom of an 8x8 pan
  • Dip half the ladyfingers into Crio brewed cocoa or coffee to soak just briefly
  • Lay them out evenly over the cream then top with another ⅓ cream
  • Repeat one more layer of soaked ladyfingers
  • End with last ⅓ cream over the second layer of ladyfingers
  • Cover with tinfoil and refrigerate a minimum of 4 hours, overnight is better though
  • Right before serving, sift more cocoa beans or cocoa powder on top of the tiramisu

Notes

Top tip: Brew up some cocoa beans or coffee and enjoy it along side your dessert for a truly authentic Italian experience.

How can I store leftovers?

For leftovers, gluten-free tiramisu should be refrigerated immediately. It will last up to four days in the fridge. You can either place it in an airtight container or wrap the dish in plastic wrap.

Can I make this vegan?

Absolutely! To make vegan tiramisu, you will need to replace the heavy whipping cream and mascarpone with vegan options. Vegan cream cheese is a good alternative to mascarpone and you can find plenty of vegan alternatives for whipping cream.
