This virgin mojito mocktail recipe is the perfect drink, especially on a hot summer day. In just five minutes, you can make this refreshing drink, so it is the ultimate game changer when it comes to throwing together a drink last minute.
Like our non-alcoholic gin and tonic, virgin margarita on the rocks, ginger beer mocktail, non alcoholic mulled wine, and virgin mimosa recipe, this classic virgin mojito recipe is the perfect non-alcoholic version of some of the most popular alcoholic drinks. This drink is the perfect way to celebrate at wedding showers or baby showers.
I don’t know about you, but I love a good virgin mojito. The lime flavor is refreshing and reminds me of a lemon-lime soda or our lemon mocktail. The combination of flavors of fresh limes mixed with the simple syrup makes the perfect minty mojito.
The best part is that there is none of the alcohol that is in the classic cocktail. This classic mojito has quickly become one of my favorite drinks. Another one of my favorite drinks is our virgin strawberry margarita!
What you need
This fruity mocktail recipes truly is easy. There are only a few ingredients and it will only take you five minutes to make.
Simple Syrup
Simple syrup is super important when making mocktails because it gives the drink that sweet, tasty flavor. Our simple syrup recipe is super easy and works perfectly with this drink. You will sometimes see this called sugar syrup, but they are the same thing.
Depending on how sweet you want your refreshing mocktail, you can add a little more or a little less of how much of simple syrup the recipe calls for. Simple syrup really adds to the delicious flavor.
Club Soda
Club soda is one of the base ingredients for this drink. We really love Topo Chico for this non-alcoholic mojito recipe.
OPTIONAL: Non-Alcoholic Rum
Non-alcoholic rum is an optional ingredient for this easy mocktail recipe. If you are wanting to add a shot of rum, we suggest Ritual brand.
Of course you don’t have to add it. We just wanted to give you all of the information for this recipe. The drink is just as good without the non-alcoholic rum!
How to make it
- Place mint leaves and 1/2 lime cut into two wedges into a tall, sturdy glass or pestle and mortar and muddle to release oils in the mint and lime juice from the lime wedges (if using a pestle and mortar, move the leaves and juice to your serving glass)
- Fill the glass to the top with ice and add the simple syrup and non-alcoholic rum (if using) then fill with club soda
- Stir and add more simple syrup if you like it sweeter
- Top tip: Add lots of ice and a pinch of salt for a cold drink with great flavor!
If you are not a fan of mint sprigs, you can try essential oils, like peppermint. You can also try different herbs like basil, cilantro, or rosemary. The fun thing about making drinks is that you get to experiment and make your drink however you want.
Mojitos originate from Cuba! A lot of rum-based drinks come from Cuba.
It is best to make this non-alcoholic drink individually, because after a few hours the club soda will go flat. If you do want to store the leftovers, leave out the fresh lime garnish so it doesn’t get too soggy.
