These gluten free apple fritters are a great dessert especially during the fall when apples are in surplus. They are classic fried fritters and only take minutes to make!
Our gluten-free apple fritter recipe is a special treat I love to make. The apple cinnamon flavors are incredible and taste even better with a glass of warm milk. Trust me when I say people will be begging you for this recipe.
These gluten-free apple fritters are so quick and easy to make. While I typically love to make pumpkin desserts in the fall like our pumpkin delight, I also love apple treats.
I especially love trying new recipes that have that yummy fall taste. Our gluten free apple cake is the best!
Our gluten free apple cider cupcakes are a fun fall recipe and it’s a really easy recipe to make. They taste even better the next day when you heat them up in the air fryer.
All you have to do is put them in the air fryer basket and heat them up for a few minutes! You can also microwave them if you don’t have an air fryer.
If you are looking for some fall drinks to go with your fritters, check out our Thanksgiving punch recipes. We’d recommend our crockpot apple cider to go with this recipe.
What you need to make them
This recipe takes diced apples and turns them into a delectable fall treat. You make be nervous to deep fry them, but don’t worry, it’s not as hard as you would think. These gluten-free fritters are easy to make and even easier to eat.
Flour mixture
While you can use a gluten free flour, I do recommend King Arthur gluten-free all-purpose flour in this recipe. It gives it a more authentic taste and texture.
We’ve tried lots of gluten-free all-purpose flour and many work in some recipes but not all recipes. I definitely prefer this brand of gluten-free flour blend.
Apple soda
These are made with a variety of gluten-free flours to give them an authentic texture and taste. We also use Dry Sparkling fuji apple soda to make the batter lighter although any apple soda will work.
Truly the carbonation gives these fritters a great texture. I love using their soda in lots of recipes like our instant pot pork with cinnamon apples.
They have so many great flavors including lavender, vanilla, cucumber, watermelon and even some great holiday celebration bottles in cranberry or ginger varieties. They are all lower in sugar than regular soda making them a much more enjoyable drink.
You can also use any other brand of soda or even club soda if you can’t find apple soda.
Apples
I love to use fresh apples for this gluten-free apple fritters recipe, but you can find tasty apples at grocery stores too. You will need two medium-sized apples for this recipe, but I always recommend to have a few extra in case you want to snack on one (I know I do).
If you like apple recipes, you definitely need to try our gluten-free apple pie jars. The apple chunks are covered in ground cinnamon, making up the apple filling. These are the best gluten free apple pie treat and they are so cute!
How to make gluten-free apple fritters
- In a stand mixer, combine ingredients (except apples) and mix well
- Chop apples into bite size pieces
- Stir in apples. Meanwhile, heat oil in the deep fryer
- Fold apples into the batter until well combined
- Once oil is hot, drop mini ice cream scoops of dough into the fryer and cook 2-3 minutes then flip fritters and cook another 1-2 minutes
- While fritters are cooking, combine 1/4 C Dry Sparkling fuji apple soda and 2-3 C powdered sugar to make the glaze
- Drizzle over the hot apple fritters and serve immediately
Pro Tip: Place fritters on paper towels to drain excess grease.
A donut, like our gluten-free donuts, is dough that is fried on its own. A fritter is dish made by deep frying food coated in batter.ย
Nope! Most cooking oils (like canola oil, sunflower oil, vegetable oil, etc) are gluten-free.
These really are best fresh and hot. I don’t recommend saving them for another day. However, if you must, you can store them in an airtight container for 2 days. You can then reheat them in the oven for 8 minutes when you are ready to eat them.

What temperature do you heat the oil to? Can’t wait to try this recipe. I was hoping to today, but only have cup for cup flours and no apple soda.
Chandice says
Hi Darissa, I just use my deep fryer on 400 degrees. Looking forward to hearing how you love them!
