These gluten-free apple fritters are a great dessert especially during the fall when apples are in surplus. They are classic fried fritters and only take minutes to make!
Gluten-Free Apple Fritters
These gluten-free apple fritters are so quick and easy to make. While I typically love to make pumpkin desserts in the fall like our gluten-free pumpkin spice donuts, maple pumpkin pudding parfaits or chocolate dipped pumpkin spice donuts I also love apple treats.
I first decided to make this recipe when my mother-in-law brought us almost an entire bushel of fresh apples from her backyard tree. While we love to eat them, I knew I was going to have to get creative for using them in baking as well.
They are seriously the most delicious apples you have ever eaten. They definitely make for great baking apples. In fact, they’d be great in these gluten-free apple crumb muffins from Erin at Meaningful Eats.
So what are apple fritters made of?
These are made with a variety of gluten-free flours to give them an authentic texture and taste. We also use Dry Sparkling fuji apple soda to make the batter lighter although any apple soda will work.
Truly the carbonation gives these fritters a great texture. I love using their soda in lots of recipes like our lavender creme brûlée and instant pot pork with cinnamon apples.
They have so many great flavors including lavender, vanilla, cucumber, watermelon and even some great holiday celebration bottles in cranberry or ginger varieties. They are all lower in sugar than regular soda making them a much more enjoyable drink.
How To Make Gluten-Free Apple Fritters
Step one: In a stand mixer, combine all ingredients except apples and mix well
Step two: Chop apples into bite size pieces
Step three: Add apples to batter, meanwhile, heat oil in the fryer
Step four: Fold apples into the batter until well combined
Step five: Once oil is hot, drop mini ice cream scoops of dough into the fryer and cook 2-3 minutes then flip fritters and cook another 1-2 minutes
Pro Tip: Place fritters on paper towels to drain excess grease
Step six: While fritters are cooking, combine apple Dry Sparkling soda and powdered sugar to make the glaze. Drizzle over the hot apple fritters and serve immediately.
Can I use a gluten-free all-purpose flour in this recipe?
While you can use a gluten-free all-purpose flour, I do recommend combining flours as we did in this recipe. It gives it a more authentic taste and texture.
We’ve tried lots of all-purpose GF flours and many work in some recipes but not all recipes. I definitely prefer mixing the flours as needed per that recipe.
What’s the difference between a gluten-free donut and a fritter?
A donut, like our gluten-free donuts, is dough that is fried on its own. A fritter is dish made by deep frying food coated in batter.
Everyone will love these gluten-free apple fritters. Whether you serve them up at a party or bake them on a lazy Sunday afternoon, they will be a win.
How do you store gluten-free apple fritters?
These really are best fresh and hot. I don’t recommend saving them for another day. However, if you must, you can store them in an airtight container for 2 days.
You can then reheat them in the oven for 8 minutes when you are ready to eat them.

What temperature do you heat the oil to? Can’t wait to try this recipe. I was hoping to today, but only have cup for cup flours and no apple soda.
Hi Darissa, I just use my deep fryer on 400 degrees. Looking forward to hearing how you love them!
