Our Mexican charcuterie board is full of Mexican flavors and a variety of items you will absolutely love. It will be filled with your favorite dishes and finger foods that make the perfect snack board.
This Mexican charcuterie board will be a big hit for your next Cinco de Mayo party, Taco Tuesday, or really any event any time of year. Making them is a fun way to enjoy Mexican cuisine while also spending time with loved ones.
Charcuterie boards have become one of my new favorite things. I always thought they were a cheese board, but they can be so much more! These beautiful boards are a great way to decorate according to theme and have perfect finger food for any event.
I just knew that I needed to make a spicy Mexican charcuterie board because there are so many foods you can put on it.
For example, there’s pico de gallo (which adds fun colors to the board), cheese dip, sour cream, Mexican street corn, homemade guacamole, salsa verde, and many more of your favorite toppings. It could also be fun to have a nacho board will all sorts of your favorite Mexican cheeses.
Charcuterie boards can be overwhelming sometimes, as they have so many ingredients. So, I made a charcuterie board shopping list (with a free printable) of the basic items you need to make the best board and in this case, the best Mexican food board.
Pro tip: Add some dark chocolate on the board for a contrast of flavors. Plus, who doesn’t love chocolate?
What you need
The best part of making a custom charcuterie board is that there are so many creative ways to make them. You get to decide what it looks like and you get to decide how it will look.
This Mexican food charcuterie board is so fun because you get to experiment with flavors and beautiful colors.
Charcuterie Board
The key to a good charcuterie board is the actual board. You need to have a solid foundation before you can put it together. But what kind of board do you need?
It all depends on what board you are going for. Because this board is a Mexican-inspired charcuterie board, you could get a cute festive board that has a lot of colors or you could use a typical cutting board.
It all depends on the mood and theme. But this one is definitely one of our unique charcuterie boards.
Tortilla Chips
Tortilla chips are typically 100% gluten-free. They are made with corn, which is naturally gluten-free. Sometimes companies will mix flour in when they are making the chips, so make sure to read the ingredient list before consuming.
We really like the Siete brand for when we buy tortilla chips. If you are a fan of nachos, you should check out our sheet pan nachos recipe. The Siete tortilla chips are perfect for that recipe also.
Queso
We also use the Siete brand of queso in this recipe. For this recipe, we would recommend using the vegan Siete brand queso. It is what works best, in our opinion.
You can also use queso fresco, which is basically white queso. It usually has a milder flavor. We have a recipe for white queso in our rolled tacos recipe.
Mexican Wedding Cookies
I am a big fan of Mexican wedding cookies. They are tasty and look beautiful on this Mexican board. Check out our gluten-free Mexican wedding cookies recipe for this part of the charcuterie platter.
For other events, or to add a twist to this charcuterie board, you should try out our charcuterie cones. They are great for charcuterie on the go.
How to make it
- Step 1: Place taco shells and tostada bowls on the board near the meat
- Step 2: Brown the meat and place it in a bowl then put it on your board in the bottom right hand corner
- Step 3: Add salsa, queso, olives, beans and rice to small bowls and place the small bowls around the board wherever you see fit
- Step 4: Add the individual cups of guacamole and place the bottle of hot sauce at the back of the board
- Step 5: Arrange tortilla chips around the bowls leaving some space for the fresh veggies
- Step 6: Slice the avocados in half and remove pit then place them in twos on two different spots of the board
- Step 7: Fill in the remaining space with fresh cilantro, lettuce and the jalapeรฑos (I slice one and leave one whole for a fun look but still leaving it functional)
- Step 8: Finish by adding it the Mexican wedding cookies to the top of the board where nothing else touching it will make them soggy or taste weird
A grazing board is more diverse and has a lot more flavors than a charcuterie board does. We have a whole post on grazing tables if you want to learn more.
You can keep your perfect summer charcuterie board fresh by keeping it in a cooler environment or restocking ingredients. You can keep fresh ingredients in the fridge and restock them outside as needed.
Leftover cheese, meats, and veggies can be stored in the refrigerator. It is usually best to just toss leftover shells as they tend to be a bit soggy.ย
This Mexican bread pudding would be delicious and really elevate the board! Bean dips, more varieties of tortilla chips and beans are great as well.
