Our creamy peanut butter frosting is the smooth and so simple to make in just 3-minutes! Its fluffy texture makes the perfect topping for every dessert. Its rich flavor mixes perfectly with chocolate desserts especially.

I have always been a huge peanut butter fan, especially when it comes to dessert. Whenever I can add peanut butter, I will. So this peanut butter frosting recipe is absolutely perfect.
We love this peanut butter icing on our gluten-free peanut butter bars or drizzled over our easy gluten free peanut butter blossoms. The peanut butter flavor is next level and the sweet frosting makes the dessert even better.
What makes this frosting so fantastic!
Versatile- I love that this peanut butter frosting can even be made with Sunbutter like we have for those with nut allergies who still want that nut style frosting. I have even swirled in melted chocolate for a peanut butter and chocolate frosting duo. We've even made it dairy free using dairy free coconut or almond milk.
So so simple- Basically this is the easiest frosting ever to make. You just whip it all up until smooth and creamy then top your favorite dessert with it. Just make sure your dessert isn't hot or it will melt. We've made that mistake before!
Pantry ingredients- I love that I always have peanut butter, milk and powdered sugar on hand so it is easy to grab what I need and make this frosting.

What you need to make it
This recipe is so easy because it has three simple ingredients: peanut butter, powdered sugar, and milk. The rich peanut flavor will get you rave reviews from anyone who tries it.
Peanut butter
- While peanut butter is of course the main ingredient in this recipe, it is very flexible with what kind you use. However, I would not recommend using crunchy peanut butter unless you want a more textured frosting. Plus it doesn't mix as well in the electric mixer like smooth peanut butter will. If you use natural peanut butter, make sure it is thoroughly mixed first and doesn't have a bunch of oil floating on the top.
Powdered sugar
- Powdered sugar creates the fluffy texture of this easy homemade peanut butter frosting. We have tried with granulated sugar and it does not work. Powdered sugar is a staple in frosting recipes, including in this one, since it is so light and adds just the right amount of sweetness.
Milk
- You can use regular milk for this recipe, so don't worry about having to run to the store to get heavy cream if you don't have it! 2% if what we typically use but whole milk works as well.
Ok let's whip it up!
