Our creamy peanut butter frosting is the best frosting you will ever taste. Its fluffy texture makes the perfect frosting for every dessert.
Peanut butter frosting is completely underrated in my opinion. Its rich flavor mixes perfectly with chocolate desserts, which makes my mouth water and has my kids begging for more.
I have always been a huge peanut butter fan, especially when it comes to dessert. Whenever I can add peanut butter, I will. So this peanut butter frosting recipe is absolutely perfect.
This recipe is great for peanut butter lovers. Whether it be on chocolate cupcakes, a bundt cake, or even alone, this fluffy frosting will be your new best friend. I know some people will even dip graham crackers in the frosting.
Our peanut butter icing is the perfect topping for our gluten-free peanut butter bars. The peanut butter flavor is next level and the sweet frosting makes the dessert even better. It could also be a great frosting to use for a Galentine’s Day Cookie Decorating Party.
Top tip: Make sure whatever you are frosting is at room temperature before frosting. It will stick a lot easier this way.
Here are a few more recipes you should try with this frosting:
- Gluten-Free Brownie
- Gluten-Free Nutter Butter Cookies (I dip these in the frosting)
- Ice Cream Cake Pops
What you need
This recipe is so easy because it has three simple ingredients: peanut butter, powdered sugar, and milk. Not only is it an easy frosting recipe, it is also the best peanut butter frosting you will ever taste. The rich peanut flavor will have you getting rave reviews from anyone who tries it.
Peanut butter
Peanut butter of course is the main ingredient in this pb frosting recipe. You can use whatever kind of peanut butter you want, but I would not recommend using crunchy peanut butter. It will not mix as well in the electric mixer like smooth peanut butter will.
Powdered sugar
Powdered sugar creates the fluffy texture of this easy homemade peanut butter frosting. Powdered sugar is a staple in frosting recipes since it is so light and sweet.
Milk
You can use regular milk for this recipe, so don’t worry about having to run to the store to get heavy cream if you don’t have it!
How to make it
- Whisk together peanut butter and milk (you can use a hand mixer or a stand mixer, whichever you prefer) slowly, then move up to medium speed to make sure it is really mixed well
- Slowly add in the powdered sugar and mix until it reaches the right consistency (smooth and creamy)
All you need to do is replace the peanut butter with another butter of your choice. Almond butter is a popular option for those with a peanut allergy. It is also very sweet.
Absolutely. Just replace the milk with the non-dary milk of your choice. Oat milk might be fun to try as it is super creamy.
If you have leftover frosting, put it in an airtight container. It will last up to a week in the fridge.
