How to make Baked Brie with Jam
Chop and mix
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Then chop up those pecans until they’re the size you like best. This is likely the most difficult part of the process!
Toss the nuts, softened butter, brown sugar, your favorite jam, and salt into the bowl of a stand mixer and mix until well combined. This mixture will turn into a paste, and that’s exactly what you want.
Bake
Place your wheel of brie cheese in the center of a pie dish or baking dish. Then spread that yummy, buttery, jammy paste on top of the wheel. The more even it is the better.
Bake for about 12-15 minutes. While this delicious appetizer is in the oven I recommend chopping the apples so they’re ready when the cheese comes out of the oven.
Serve
Arrange the apple slices and pretzels on a serving platter and serve alongside the warm brie. The cheese will be soft and melty so you can dip the apples into the yummy cheese.
Watch everyones faces light up as they taste this stunning appetizer.
Tips for success
Bake in the dish you serve in
Because you’ll want to serve this appetizer straight from the oven to make sure it’s melty and dip-worthy, bake the brie in the same pie dish you want to serve it in. That way you don’t have to worry about messing up the pretty display.
Add a drizzle of olive oil
This creamy brie cheese is very melty and can be a bit complicated to wash out of the pan. Try drizzling a little olive oil onto the pan before you place the brie to make cleanup a bit easier.
Use a cookie sheet
If you don’t have a pie dish readily available you can use a cooke sheet. it will work just as well as a pie dish and will allow you to display the dippers around the cheese without using an extra serving platter.
Variations
- Homemade jam – This might be obvious, but try some homemade or freezer jam in this recipe to give it an extra special flair. Try fig jam, apricot jam, raspberry jam, strawberry jam, whatever you like.
- Dippers – Try using an unflavored bread or baguette slices, pita chips, or your favorite crackers to dip into the melty goodness.
- Black pepper – If you like a little kick, try a dash of black pepper in the in the jam mixture. A little goes a long way, so use only a dash.
- Toppers – When the brie comes out of the oven top it with some other fruits like pomegranate for a festive variation. Or add your favorite fresh fruit and berries to the top of the cheese.
- Honey – Add a thin drizzle of honey or even maple syrup to the top of the wheel of brie once it comes out of the oven for an extra dash of sweetness.
- Walnuts – Try crunchy walnuts instead of pecans for a slightly different flavor and texture.
Storage and Freezing
Storing – Store any leftover melted cheese and apples separately in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Freezing – Scoop any leftover cheese into an airtight container and freeze for up to three months.
FAQ
Can I make this gluten free?
Easily! Brie is usually gluten free, but check the label to make sure. Most of the ingredients are already gluten free so the trick is making sure the dippers are gluten free as well. Use gluten free pretzels and breads and always make sure everything you serve with this appetizer is gluten free. Don’t mix and match dippers for your guests because cross contamination is a risk with an appetizer like this since everyone is dipping and sharing.
Can I make this dairy free?
Sure! Substitute the brie wheel for vegan brie and butter for a diary-free version. The baking time may be a bit different and the textures may turn out a bit different as well, so just be aware.
Can I use different sugars?
Yes. While I like brown sugar for this recipe best, you can certainly substitute it with coconut sugar or sugar in the raw. Note that the flavor will be different, depending on what sugar you plan to use.
Ways to enjoy
Throw an appetizer party! Some of my favorite get-togethers involve only finger foods like gluten free garlic bread and instant pot artichoke dip. Especially if you’re hosting a party where small groups will gather and there are no start and end times. Appetizers are the way to go. You can even pair this brie recipe with a unique charcuterie board.
No party would be complete without a 1-minute roy rogers drink because it’s quick and easy to whip up on the spot. Or try this strawberry basil margarita mocktail to bring a fresh twist.

We made this for thanksgiving this year and it was to die for. It was perfectly creamy, a little bit sweet, and just the right amount of savory. There was hardly any leftover!
