This easy 1-minute Roy Rogers Mocktail is a nostalgic drink that’s quick to make and fun to serve. A classic drink that combines cola and grenadine for a refreshingly sweet beverage, making it a fan favorite for both kids and adults.
I’ve always loved adding a personal touch to my parties, and mocktails are one of my favorite ways to do that. I love that non-alcoholic drinks are becoming more popular because they offer an enjoyable option without the downsides of alcohol, making it easier for everyone to enjoy a good drink.
This Roy Rogers mocktail, along with my blue lagoon mocktail and piรฑa colada mocktail are some of my favorite drinks to sip on during the summertime. There’s something about a chilled, refreshing drink that beats the summer heat.

What’s the difference between a Roy Rogers and a Shirley Temple?
The main different between a Roy Rogers and a Shirley temple is that Roy Rogers is made with a cola base while a Shirley temple uses a lemon-lime soda instead. A Roy Rogers is often called the “male Shirley Temple” because the recipes are so similar!
How to make a good Roy Rogers
Fill with ice: Fill a 16-ounce cup with ice cubes
Add cola and grenadine: Pour cola and grenadine into the cup then gently stir until combine.
Top with cherries: Top with maraschino cherries for the signature look. If you choose to add rum, you can add it now.
Expert Tips
- Use quality ice – The type of ice you use can take a drink from good to great. Pebbled or crushed ice will take this mocktail to the next level.
- Grenadine matters – Not all grenadines are made equal, opt for one made with real pomegranate juice for the most authentic flavor.
- Presentation is key – Serve your Roy Rogers in a tall glass for a more polished look. It might be just me, but I think drinks taste better when the presentation is prettier!
Can I make a large batch for a party?
Yes, you can make a pitcher or larger serving of a Roy Rogers by scaling up the ingredients. Mix all of the ingredients into a large pitcher or punch bowl and serve chilled. I like to add the cherries just before serving.
What’s the best way to serve a Roy Rogers?
This Roy Rogers recipe is perfect for a variety of occasions like a barbeque or Super Bowl Sunday. Pair with a gluten free burger with other Super Bowl snacks or even a Super Bowl charcuterie board.

I am so tired of ordering water at the bar, so thank you for sharing this recipe!!! Now I have a safe drink to order when Iโm out, but I also have an easy drink I can make at home. I always get overwhelmed with mocktail recipes because they seem complicated, but I can handle this one!
