These perfectly crispy bacon wrapped tater tots make the an easy party appetizer for any occasion. They’re so good you’re going to want to double the recipe!
These tater tot bites are a huge hit on game days, graduation parties, and family events. Not to mention, they only take 20-25 minutes to make. What’s not to love?

I love crispy tater tots stuffed with guacamole instead of a small piece of cheese because it’s something different and more delicious. If cheese is your thing, I recommend dipping your tator tots in melting pot cheese fondue.
You can’t go wrong with a cheesy and easy party appetizer, especially for college football games because everyone loves munching on greasy finger food. Along with this recipe, my instant pot artichoke dip and chicken wings are more great recipes.
If I’m not making an appetizer, I love bringing fun drinks to parties. My favorite mocktails are this strawberry mojito mocktail and this non-alcoholic gin and tonic. Nothing goes better with a savory snack than a fruity drink.
How do you make stuff wrapped in bacon?
For most bacon wrapped foods, you wrap the food in raw bacon and cook both together. Bacon is difficult to maneuver when it’s cooked which is why you use raw bacon instead. For crispy tater tots and crispy bacon, make sure your frozen tots are at room temperature before wrapping.
What’s in bacon wrapped tater tots?
There’s only five ingredients in these sweet bacon tater tots. See the recipe card for the full list of ingredients.
Frozen tater tots
A frozen bag tater tots is perfect for this recipe. We prefer to use gluten-free tater tots to make this a gluten free recipe.
Bacon
You can use a regular or a thin piece of bacon when wrapping the tots. Thick cut bacon won’t be crispy enough.
Wholly Guacamole
Wholly guacamole is the easiest way to stuff store-bought tater tots. You can make your own guacamole as well. Adding cheddar cheese or sour cream to the guacamole mixture adds a nice cheesy flavor.
Brown Sugar
I love adding brown sugar to each slice of bacon for a hint of sweetness. Nothing is better than the bacon and brown sugar combo.
Chives
Chopped chives are the finishing touch on this bacon-wrapped tater tots recipe. You can also add cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, or savory seasoning salt.

Expert tips and FAQs
These tater tot bombs make the perfect side dish to burgers, grilled chicken, gluten-free meatloaf, instant pot ribs, and pretty much anything hearty. I also recommend serving a side salad or vegetables with these tots for a healthy balance.
Make sure that you’re not using thick cut bacon as well as make sure your tots are cooled to room temperature before cooking. Freezer burn could also cause soggy tater tots so watch out for that too.
For these tots I like to use homemade ranch dressing, sriracha honey glaze, or another spicy glaze. The brown sugar in this recipe tastes great with a hint of spice.

Delicious! I subbed turkey bacon for regular.
I had a LOT of difficulty stuffing the tator tots, they were small and the piping tip was big. I finally gave up and just piped a stripe of guac on top and the wrapped the bacon over it.
Delicious! Gf and df!
