This vegan chocolate sauce and dessert nachos are everything! Crunchy chips are covered in cinnamon sugar. They are then drizzled with a smooth and rich chocolate and topped with chopped strawberries.
The decadent chocolate sauce works great over ice cream sundaes, fondue and especially our sweet dessert nachos. Everyone will love them and you will love how easy it is to make! Serve it with our Valentines charcuterie board and some Valentine’s mocktails.
Vegan Chocolate Sauce
If you have a sweet tooth then you are going to love this vegan chocolate syrup! It takes all your dessert to the next level.
This is a really easy recipe that doesn’t even require non-dairy milk to make it. You can use rice milk chocolate or go rich and sultry with dairy-free dark chocolate. Both are great over dairy free ice cream with vegan caramel sauce!
I also love to add it to coconut or almond milk for a dairy-free chocolate milk option. Gluten-free oat milk also works and gives it an even creamier texture.
Just like it does in our dairy free pudding and dairy free chocolate frosting recipes. And if you need a good cookie, these vegan oatmeal raisin cookies and vegan oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are the BEST!
For a savory option, our vegan queso is the perfect appetizer.
While chocolate has become a traditional Valentineโs Day treat and a central ingredient in decadent desserts, for individuals with food allergies or dietary restrictions, this can be a source of stress or feeling left out, but with this recipe, everyone can eat freely.
I love that Enjoy Life baking chocolates are certified gluten-free, free-from 14 common allergens, verified Non-GMO, certified kosher, AND certified vegan and paleo-friendly, making them a dessert solution for individuals with many different types of dietary restrictions!
How to make vegan chocolate sauce
After sweetening the chips up with some cinnamon sugar, you will want to make a delicious chocolate sauce. I like to make mine using Enjoy Life Foods semi-sweet mini chips and some room temperature coconut oil. If you are allergic to coconut, feel free to use another oil.
There are only a few simple steps and less than a handful of ingredients to this recipe…
- First, put the coconut oil and all but 1/4 C Enjoy Life Foods semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave save bowl or large glass measuring cup
- Heat it in the microwave 1 minute then stir until smooth, if needed, microwave another 30 seconds to make sure it’s completely melted
Pro Tip: You can also melt it over low heat to medium heat in a small saucepan just be sure to watch it closely so it doesn’t burn
The great thing about this recipe is that you don’t need cocoa powder since the chocolate gives great flavor on its own. The chocolate is also sweet enough but you can certainly add a touch of maple syrup or coconut sugar in this recipe if you need it.
Dessert Nachos
Truly there is nothing quite like a big ol’ plate of these dessert nachos. They are such an easy vegan dessert that is also great for serving a crowd. The amazing chocolate sauce we make using Enjoy Life Foods semi-sweet mini chips couldn’t be more decadent!
I love to make them to follow our baked bean nachos or cheeseburger tots so I only have to wash two sheet pans… Now that’s SWEET!
Dessert nachos make a great treat anytime but they are especially festive for Valentines. You can make them in a snap for your next Galentine’s day party or chocolate lovers party.
I love serving them with some Valentines mocktails and our red velvet cake mix cookies or Valentines Day sugar cookies.
How to make them
While you could easily make these dessert nachos with regular corn tortilla chips, I wanted to make them allergen-free. I started by using a bean based tortilla chip.
To sweeten them up, I combined cinnamon and sugar together and sprinkled it over the chips. To make sure it sticks, spray them with some clean oil (I used avocado oil spray) just barely, then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture.
You will then give the cinnamon sugar chips a nice drizzle. I like to be generous with the rich chocolate sauce.
Top with some chopped strawberries and finish them off with a sprinkling of more Enjoy Life Foods mini chips and whipped coconut cream. You can even add some Valentines sprinkles or flaky sea salt if you’d like.
How long do they last?
You can store leftover healthy vegan chocolate sauce in an airtight glass container or mason jar.
I can honestly say that we haven’t had dessert nachos leftovers for more than a few hours because people come and graze on them until they are gone.
However, if you store them in an airtight container, you can enjoy them the next day after making them. They won’t be quite as crisp but they are certainly still delicious.
Variations for toppings…
While strawberries are my favorite topping, you can definitely get creative and add other fresh fruit. I like diced pineapple, blueberries and blackberries.
For a nice kick of heat, feel free to add a pinch of cayenne to the chocolate sauce before drizzling. Although, I don’t recommend this for kiddos.
How to serve sweet nachos
Since dessert nachos with our amazing chocolate sauce don’t have to be baked, you can whip them up in minutes! This means, you can also serve them on whatever platter you want.
I love to use my marble cheeseboard whenever I get the chance because it is just so pretty! A cake stand or even just a pretty plate would work too.
