Our festive Christmas pancakes are perfect for everyone because they are gluten-free and dairy-free. Making them is a great way to celebrate the holiday season. These fluffy pancakes are something the whole family will love.
Our Christmas pancakes are great on Christmas morning, Christmas Eve, or for a fun December breakfast for dinner. The kids will especially love how yummy they are! It is also a great way to spend quality time together and the perfect way to celebrate the holidays together
Truly, the holidays are for treating yourself and these Christmas pancakes do just that. Our gingerbread pancakes, reindeer pancakes (or Rudolph pancakes), and ebelskivers also do the trick. Making fun treats is the best way to spend the most wonderful time of the year together in the kitchen.
Delicious Christmas pancakes always remind me of the movie Elf. I’m not a big fan of topping pancakes with spaghetti and maple syrup together. So instead, we top it with Enjoy Life Foods dairy-free chocolate morsels syrup, whip and crushed candy canes.

We’ve made lots of pancakes over the years because they are just a delicious classic. Our gluten free pancakes are so fluffy and delicious! The oat flour pancakes with buttermilk syrup we make are one of the fan favorite recipes we have ever shared. But the mini pancake topped maple cupcakes were probably the cutest of all times.
What you need
This recipe is so easy and uses simple ingredients. Not only is it easy, it will also get you in the holiday spirit. Trust me, this recipe will become a new family favorite.
Prepared Pancake mix
With this recipe, we are simply helping you amplify your favorite pancake mix to make them extra festive and fun for the holidays! You can choose any brand you like.
I love using King Arthur gluten-free pancake mix because it is both GF and dairy free. I also love Pamela’s Pancakes. You can find both in our Amazon store HERE.
We also add in some peppermint oil (also yummy in these gluten-free peppermint brownies) to give these festive pancakes a yummy Christmas flavor.
You can also do some orange extract to give these that yummy chocolate orange Christmas flavor like we do in our chocolate orange cake.
It reminds me so much of eating chocolate orange sticks with my grandpa at Christmas…
Top tip: Pair the pancakes with our Candy Cane Christmas Mocktail for that extra pepperminty flavor (please note these are not dairy-free).
Chocolate morsels
To get that silky shine in our chocolate syrup, we simply add 2 teaspoons to the a bag of chocolate morsels. We use Enjoy Life Foods brand to make them dairy free for our little guys.
They work great in all kinds of recipes including our dairy-free peppermint patties. You can get everything you need for these delicious pancakes shipped right to your door.
How to make them
- Add peppermint oil to prepared your prepared pancake batter
- Preheat a griddle on medium heat (300 degrees) and grease VERY well
- Fry pancakes on hot griddle until golden brown and until all the mix is gone
- Meanwhile, heat one bag of chocolate morsels and 2 teaspoons of oil in the microwave for 1 minute in a small bowl
- Remove and stir Heat in 10 seconds intervals if you need it more melted, be careful not to overheat
- Top each pancake stack with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and crushed candy canes
It depends on the brand. Some brands have powdered milk in their mix, but not Enjoy Life Foods! They pride themselves on having gluten-free, dairy-free pancake mix, so you don’t need to worry about that.
Candy canes do not contain peanuts, eggs, gluten, milk, tree nuts, or wheat. They do have corn syrup and sugar, if those are things you avoid or are allergic to.
Allow these adorable Christmas pancakes to cool to room temperature. Then, store them in an airtight container or freezer bags.
