I love to delight in the simple things, especially when it comes to gluten-free desserts. My goal is to create the most delicious gluten-free treats so that everyone can feel included.

Sharing treats with my loved ones makes me happy. I have celiac disease, so I have to eat gluten-free but you do not need to have a gluten allergy to enjoy gluten-free foods.

You won’t be able to tell these gluten free oatmeal raisin cookies are even gluten-free. We have many gluten free desserts to enjoy, like our gluten-free apple fritters crockpot candy and gluten-free lemon poppyseed cake.

If you prefer savory foods, try out our fantastic gluten free fried chicken. It pairs well with out fluffy gluten free biscuits and our gluten-free green bean casserole.

We love these gluten-free Oreo truffles because they are an easy treat to make. They are especially great now that we have found gluten-free Oreos! I have missed Oreos, so I’m so excited I can eat them again.

Why you should make this recipe

    • It makes the perfect treat for any time of year but these Christmas Oreo truffles are also great!
    • No-bake desserts like this one (and our gluten free Christmas cookies) work well if you are using the oven for other desserts.
    • This recipe is tasty at room temperature, cold, or frozen.

    Ingredients needed

    • Gluten-free Oreos โ€“ These are the base of our delicious gluten-free Oreo balls. You can find these gluten-free Oreos at the grocery store.
    • Cream cheese โ€“ Cream cheese helps keep the cookie balls stick together when mixed with the Oreo crumbs.
    • White almond bark โ€“ Any white almond bark works wonderfully for this recipe.

How to make gluten free Oreo balls

    Crush cookies

Crush the Oreo cookies in a blender or food processor. Do so until the cookies are in fine crumbs.

Then add in the cream cheese. Pulse until the cookie mixture holds together.

    Make cookie balls

Take the cookie mixture and roll it in your hands to make 1-inch balls. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

You can also use wax paper. Let the cookie balls chill for one hour.

    Melt bark

Melt the white almond bark in the tray provided in the microwave. Follow the packaging directions to ensure it doesnโ€™t burn.

Stir the bark until smooth and just melted. Stirring often will help the bark melt well.

    Cover in almond bark

After the cookie balls are cool, dip them in the melted bark. We recommend using a fork so you don’t make a mess.

Place the Oreo cake balls in a single layer on the cookie sheet. Top with sprinkles, then allow them to cool.

    Tips for recipe success

    • Use soft cream cheese – For the best results, allow the cream cheese to soften at room temperature for an hour. We recommend using softened cream cheese works best for this recipe.
    • Small cookie scoop – If you don’t want to get your hands dirty, use a small cookie scoop to make the cookie balls.
    • Try different flavors – Instead of sprinkles, try crushing up a candy cane to make this treat a festive holiday dessert.

    Storage and freezing

Storing – Oreo balls should be placed in an airtight container and stored in the fridge. They will last 3 weeks in the fridge.

Freezing – You can absolutely freeze this decadent treat. Place the balls in an airtight container. Make sure you add a piece of parchment paper in between each layer.
This yummy treat will keep in the freezer for 2 months. You can place them in the fridge so they can thaw when you are ready to eat them, or enjoy them frozen!

    FAQ

Why are my Oreo truffle balls wet?

If you find that the balls are still wet after refrigerating them, let them continue to cool for another 15-20 minutes. Another option is setting them in the freezer for 10 minutes to let them set a little more.

Can I use regular Oreos for this recipe?

Absolutely! You could use any type of Oreo really. We use gluten-free Oreos for this recipe because of my celiac diagnosis.

    Ways to enjoy

These Oreo cream cheese balls would be perfect on our Halloween charcuterie board. The coloring matches the spooky theme, and they are easy to throw onto the board. They are small enough to fill any empty spaces on the charcuterie board.

If you like this recipe, try more gluten-free treats, like our gluten-free nutter butter cookies. These snickerdoodles are also a recipe you should try. Both are easy to make and absolutely mouthwatering.
