This three ingredient non-alcoholic gin and tonic is going to be your favorite summer dry cocktail. This mocktail is refreshing and takes only minutes to make.

The best part is that it takes less than 2 minutes to put together! Whether you need a refreshing drink on a hot summer day or a quick unwind beverage at night, this is it.

    Non-Alcoholic Gin and Tonic

I love making new drinks and this gin and tonic mocktail is one of my favorites. I even included it in my 20+ summer mocktails roundup. Like ourย 5-minute spiced orange mocktail andย Shirley temple mocktail, it is always a hit!

It is just as refreshing as our Roy Rogers Drink, blue lagoon mocktail, virgin margarita, non-alcoholic pina colada, lavender lemonade and limeade or our blackberry sage lemonade.

However, it only has three ingredients and just a few calories. Plus, it is literally the easiest mocktail ever!

I love it straight just like we make it here but it is also fun to dress up with other garnishes, a splash of grapefruit juice or even a touch of simple syrup.

The key to this drink is using good quality ingredients. I highly recommend a more expensive tonic like Fever Tree as well as a good quality non-alcoholic gin which I talk more about below.

Fresh limes are also key and larger ice cubes are preferred so you don’t get a watered down drink from the ice melting too fast.

    Tonic Water

Tonic water is a soft drink containing quinine which comes from the bark of the cinchona tree. It lends a bit of a bitter flavor. This flavor works great in our gin and tonic.

How do you drink tonic without alcohol?

Tonic on it’s own doesn’t contain alcohol. However, it isn’t the best on its own in my opinion. I love layering it with other flavors like this non-alcoholic gin.

My friend Eden of Sugar and Charm also takes it to a floral level with her rose water gin and tonic. You could easily make it non-alcoholic as well.

You can simply enjoy tonic water on its own but adding in some other flavors really helps make it more enjoyable.

    Alcohol Free Gin

Finding a non-alcoholic gin can be tough but it’s not impossible. Gins signature flavor is made using juniper berries. So, finding something with that flavor is a good start.

In addition to juniper berries, gin is also often flavored with botanical or herbal flavors as well as spice, floral or fruit flavors, often in combination.

    Best virgin gin

I really do love Caleno non-alcoholic gin because it is so clean and tastes great! I know that it isn’t as readily available so Ritual Gin is another one that works great.

Like our non-alcoholic vodka, non-alcoholic Prosecco or mimosa mocktail, we added something a bit different to keep it booze free.

Does non-alcoholic gin have alcohol in it?

This is actually a good question since so many “non-alcoholic” spirits and wines still have a small percentage of alcohol. Each country has their own limits.

For example, America allows .05% by volume while 2.8% is allowed in Finland (these are both according to Wikipedia).

Rest assured though, I only use 0.0% non-alcoholic beverages in our mocktails and they work great!

    Why is it so expensive?

I had this question too… I mean, why is it so expensive if there isn’t even alcohol in it, then why does it cost so much?

The answer is that even though there is no alcohol in non-alcoholic gins, they still create a blend of botanicals and juniper berries to create the best NA option for you.

Most of the companies I prefer buy my virgin gin from, genuinely care about the sober community.

Does non-alcoholic gin taste the same?

While it doesn’t have the exact same taste or burn, it is very similar. The burn is slightly different in Ritual but definitely still there.

It isn’t as smooth of a spirit like really good alcohol full gin but they did add some nice gin flavors.

Caleno doesn’t burn at all but it’s juniper flavor is fantastic! I really love the flavor and find that it is very smooth. You will miss the burn though.

How to make a non-alcoholic gin and tonic

    • Start by filling a chilled cup with ice

Pro Tip: Larger pieces of ice work better as they take longer to melt and won’t muddle the flavors of the drink

    • Add 2 ounces of non-alcoholic gin like Ritual or Caleno brand (I love their flavor!)
    • Squeeze in the juice of one lime wedge
    • Top with 4 ounces of good quality tonic like Fever Tree
    • Add the juice of another lime wedge
    • Stir with your bar spoon
    • Garnish with a lime slice

Are alcohol-free drinks good for you?

Choosing to drink non-alcoholic drinks, mocktails, dry cocktails or whatever you want to call them definitely gives you a healthier alternative to drinking.

While you do have more control without the effects of the alcohol, please keep in mind that sugar can still be present.

Let’s be honest though, sometimes it makes some of the best drinks like in the case of our gingerbread martini mocktail or even our other Christmas mocktails. Yum!If you are a fan of cocktails, then you are going to love these as well…

    Add some flavor!

While not traditional, you can also add a splash of these simple syrups to your G&T for a bit more sweetness.

    • Raspberry Simple Syrup
    • Blueberry Simple Syrup
    • Blackberry Simple Syrup
    • Strawberry Simple Syrup
    • Peach Simple Syrup
    • Brown Sugar Simple Syrup
    • Orange Simple Syrup
    • Rosemary Simple Syrup
    • Jalapeno Simple Syrup
    • Lavender Simple Syrup
    • Rose Simple Syrup

    Ingredients

    • 2 ounces non-alcoholic gin (I like Caleno brand)
    • 4 ounces tonic water (I like a high quality brand like Fever Tree)
    • 1/2 lime

    Instructions

    • Start by adding large ice cubes to a chilled cup
    • Add 2 ounces of non-alcoholic gin like Caleno brand (I love their flavor!)
    • Squeeze in the juice of one lime wedge
    • Top with 4 ounces of good quality tonic like Fever Tree
    • Add the juice of another lime wedge
    • Stir with your bar spoon
    • Garnish with a lime slice

    Notes

I like to use a high quality tonic water like Fever Tree as to not muddle the flavors of the drink itself.ย
Pro Tip: Use large ice cubes so that they take longer to melt and water down the drink.
Fresh limes are also a must. Lime juice in the bottle does not work the same in this recipe.ย

You have yourself a dragonfruit flavoured gin and tonic! We have non drinkers in the family so I will definately make this drink for family and friends too! Cheers!

I had never heard of non-alcoholic gin. I will have to search for this. Gin and Tonic is one of my Father-in-Law’s favorite cocktails, but he’s on medication that doesn’t mix well with alcohol, so I’m thinking this mocktail will be perfect for him.
Thanks for sharing and educating me about the availability of non alcoholic “liquors.”

Although I am an alcohol appreciator, I think mocktails are fun! Whenever I am driving I’ll always get a mocktail rather than alcohol-free wine. You can get so many nice combinations of flavours in non-alcoholic cocktails! I’m intrigued by alcohol-free gin, I would like to try it.

I love a good gin and tonic. I don’t love what comes from drinking too many of them. I’ll have to give this a try.
