These 7 minute air fryer sausage patties are so simple to make and give you perfectly cooked breakfast meat every time.
I especially love cooking air fryer breakfast sausage and other air fryer recipes this way as it keeps your counters from getting grease splatter on them. Over frying or baking, this is the easiest cleanup for cooking breakfast meat.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and my family loves a big breakfast every weekend complete with gluten-free pancakes, these hash browns in air fryer and eggs. But whether we are making that or French toast bites, it seems like there are a million pans out for cooking.
The air fryer makes it so much easier for making a sausage patty especially as clean up is such a breeze. I always hate when bacon or sausage grease splatter makes the kitchen a big mess and with the air fryer, it is much less messy.
Just like here, we show you how to cook frozen hash browns perfectly every time in the air fryer and frozen waffles in air fryer as well. Using an air fryer is a simple cooking method for almost anything. From how to cook pot pie in air fryer, frozen potstickers in air fryer, frozen egg rolls in air fryer to frozen chicken tenders in air fryer, it is easy peasy!
I also love that it keeps my oven free for baking our famous gluten-free cinnamon rolls or gluten-free French toast casserole with cranberries. It’s the same reason I also love using my Instant Pot for things like cinnamon roll French toast casserole.
If you are a first time air fryer, this recipe couldn’t be any easier. In just one step, you have a hearty breakfast. The hot air in the fryer cooks these to perfection.
What do you need
The only thing you need are some frozen breakfast sausage patties or raw patties…yep, that’s it!
How long do you cook sausages in the air fryer?
Cooking frozen pork sausage patties in the air fryer is one of the easiest things ever to make. Simply cook them in a single layer at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for a cook time of 7 minutes until the internal temperature with a meat thermometer reaches 160 degrees.
Make the cooking time 8 minutes for extra crispy sausage patties or only 6 minutes if you like them a little more floppy.
Can you cook them in a double layer?
For best results, it is best to cook them in a single layer at the bottom of the air fryer basket or air fryer tray so they can all get as evenly crispy as possible.
The cooking process is very easy, simply use tongs to place sausage patties in the air fryer, no need to use a preheated air fryer. You can easily turn sausage half way through cooking if you prefer but it is not necessary.
You can put them in a double layer but there will be certain parts that aren’t as crispy as others. If you are in a hurry to get as many cooked as possible (like I was when my kids were hungry) it certainly works to double layer them for efficiency.
Do I need to add fat?
The best part about these easy air fryer sausage patties is that there is no need to add cooking oil, cooking spray or extra fat to this recipe. The frozen sausage patties and fresh patties already have enough fat.
Can you use fresh or frozen sausage?
This recipe is for frozen, sausage patties that are fully cooked. For cooking fresh, raw sausage patties you will want to cook them 1-2 minutes longer. I personally love fresh patties but wanted to show you the easiest possible recipe so frozen it was.
Whether you are using good ol’fashioned Jimmy Dean sausage, breakfast sausage links, homemade sausage patties or going a bit ethnic with Italian sausages, this is an easy recipe that
What’s the best way to serve them?
I love serving sausages all on their own hot and crispy or with a drizzle of maple syrup. They are great when made into a breakfast sandwich as well. You can even crumble them up and put them into scrambled eggs.
We have a delicious gluten-free breakfast casserole that is also extra tasty with these sausages served up next to them. Since there is sausage in the recipe, it makes for a sausage lovers ultimate breakfast!
How do you store leftovers?
Leftover patties can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. When you are ready to reheat them, just follow the same instructions of cooking them for 7 minutes at 370 degrees.
